What do I need on my 4WD?
The below is a list of “minimum” requirements, it is not a hard rule to have all these things straight away. We do advise you to get these ASAP. Note: access to some trips will be limited if your car is not set up.
- A 4WD with low range.
- All-terrain or mud terrain tyres.
- Rated recovery points on the front and back of your vehicle.
- Recovery kit – which should contain a snatch strap, winch extension rope, bow shackles or soft shackles and gloves. Ensure your recovery kit is rated to suit your vehicle and meets Australian Standards.
- Air compressor. We advise spending a bit more to get a good quality compressor.
- UHF/CB radio. A handheld is okay.
- A tyre deflator.

- A first aid kit.

- A sense of adventure 🙂
Other Tips
- When travelling in winter, diesel cars need to have winter fuel or additives to prevent fuel gelling.
- Speak to other members; we all have experience setting up our vehicles and preparing for trips.
- Ask questions – there is no question too silly, especially when it comes to being comfortable – and above all, safe – out on the tracks.
